Who we are
Clean-Track is the waste-management app of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (“IMC”, “we”). It lets residents of Itanagar see where the garbage collection truck for their area is, check the collection timetable, find public bins and report a waste problem.
IMC is the controller of the information described here. This policy covers the website at imcapp.in and the Android app of the same name.
The short version
We collect your location so the map can show you the right truck, and we collect your name, phone number, a photo and a location pin when you file a complaint so the sanitation team can find and fix the problem. We do not sell anything, we run no advertising, and we use no analytics or tracking services of any kind.
What we collect, and why
Your location. The app asks your browser or phone for your position. It is used to centre the map, work out which collection area you are in, and measure how far away the truck is.
If you switch on truck alerts, your chosen home position is stored on our server so we can send the alert when the truck is near — it is not only used on your device. This is precise location data.
When you file a complaint we collect and store your name, your phone number, a description, an optional photograph, and the location of the problem. The phone number is how the sanitation worker or supervisor reaches you. If you refuse location for a complaint, we record that fact instead of a pin.
If you turn on notifications we store the notification address your browser or phone issues for that device, and the two keys needed to encrypt messages to it. This identifies a device, not a person.
Municipal staff accounts. Drivers, sanitation workers and administrators have accounts holding a name, a phone number and a password stored only as a one-way hash. Residents do not have accounts.
Truck positions. While a collection round is running we record the position of the municipal vehicle. This is the location of a government vehicle on duty, shown publicly on the live map.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your information to anybody.
- We do not show advertising in this app.
- We use no analytics, tracking pixels or advertising software. There are none in the app at all.
- We do not build a profile of you or track you across other apps and websites.
- We do not record your location in the background. The app only reads your position while you have it open.
Who else sees it
Google Maps. The maps are drawn by Google Maps Platform, so your device contacts Google’s servers to fetch map images.
Route and arrival estimates. To draw the road the truck will take to you and estimate when it arrives, our server sends your location and the truck’s location to Google’s route service. Google processes that request for us under its own terms. Our server keeps the result in memory for about five minutes so it does not ask Google again for the same trip, and does not save it.
We do not send Google your name, your phone number or your complaint.
Notification delivery. Alerts are delivered through the push service your browser maker runs — for most Android phones that is Google. The message contents are encrypted so the delivery service cannot read them.
Inside IMC. Your complaint, including your name, phone number, photo and pin, is visible to the IMC staff handling it — administrators, the supervisor and the assigned worker or driver.
We may also disclose information where the law or a court requires it.
How long we keep it
A complaint is a municipal service record. It is retained as part of IMC’s records of the service it has provided, in line with the corporation’s record-keeping rules.
Truck alerts. The notification address and the home position saved for truck alerts are kept only while those alerts are switched on. Turning them off deletes both immediately — see Delete my data.
Complaint alerts are separate. If you asked to be notified about a specific complaint, that is a second record, stored against the complaint rather than against a home position. Switching truck alerts off does not remove it, and there is no self-service way to remove it yet. It holds the notification address for your device and no location. To have it removed, email us using the address below.
How it is protected
- Everything travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection, which the site requires.
- Staff passwords are stored as one-way hashes and cannot be read back.
- Staff screens require a login; residents' screens need no account.
- Notification payloads are encrypted end-to-end to your device.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This is a civic service for residents generally. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from a child. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Your choices
- You can refuse or withdraw location permission at any time in your browser or Android settings. Parts of the app that need a location will stop working.
- You can switch notifications off at any time, which deletes the stored address and home position.
- You can ask us to correct or remove your information — see Delete my data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
